Trip Summary - Israel 2013: Inspirational Pilgrimage

Trip Summary
For many years I've had the dream of going to Israel to see the land that Jesus walked, the land that was promised to Abraham. I'm elated to say that this dream has come true. For the first time my wife Leyda and I completed a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. We toured the land of the forefathers of the Christian faith visiting cities and sites such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Galilee, Jordan River, the Dead Sea, Mt Zion, Mt. Moriah, The Mt.of Olives, The Temple Mount and many more sites. In our tour group we got to know many nice brothers and sisters of the Christian Faith from across the USA as well as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. I've posted some of their photos below. This trip has been very informative, truly inspirational, and it has placed me in further love with God Almighty. I honestly feel that my faith has been enhanced and energized as a result of experiencing the Holy Land. While reading the Bible on my trip, the content I read seemed so real and much more understandable. Being able to see what's being read is such a great feeling. Along with all the great things we experienced I also saw the results of Middle Eastern conflicts. We passed mine fields that separate Jordan and Israel, and we frequently passed heavily secured check points separating The West Bank and Israel. Thank God nothing bad occurred while we visited. Now I see why the Scripture says 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.' Never the less; the Trip was FANTASTIC! I've written a summary of each day along with a related scripture... journey along with me if you wish.

Durante muchos años he tenido el sueño de ir a Israel para ver la tierra que Jesús caminó, la tierra que fue prometida a Abraham. Estoy encantada de decir que este sueño se ha hecho realidad. Por primera vez he completado una peregrinación a Tierra Santa, junto con mi esposa Leyda. Viajamos a la tierra de los antepasados de la fe cristiana y visita la ciudades y sitios como Jerusalén, Belén, Nazaret, Galilea, el río Jordán, el Mar Muerto, el Monte Sión, el monte. Moriah, Mt. de Los Olivos, el Monte del Templo y de muchos más sitios. En nuestro grupo de viaje llegamos a conocer a muchos hermanos y hermanas buenos de la fe cristiana algunos que se muestran a continuación. Este viaje ha sido muy informativo, realmente inspirador, y me ha puesto en más de amor con Dios Todopoderoso. Sinceramente, siento que mi fe se ha mejorado y con energía, como resultado de vivir en Tierra Santa. Durante la lectura de la Biblia en mi viaje, el contenido que leí parecía tan real y mucho más comprensible. Ser capaz de ver lo que está leyendo es una gran sensación. Junto con todas las grandes cosas que hemos experimentado también vi los resultados de los conflictos de Oriente Medio. Pasamos por los campos de minas que separan Jordania e Israel, y que con frecuencia pasan los puntos de control fuertemente garantizados que separan The West Bank e Israel. Day 1 - Israel 2013: Flying United and Lufthansa

Day 1
Day 1 is all in the air and at airports; nearly 16 total hours of flying using United and Lufthansa Airlines and another 3 hours of layovers in Washington D.C and Frankfurt Germany. On the plane I watched Argo for the first time and I give it a thumbs up; I aslo played a few board games beating the computer in Chess and in Poker! It was interesting to see the security for the travelers flying to Israel. In addition to the normal security, all passengers going to Tel Aviv must go through extra screening. I didn't mind, it made me feel safer.

Día 1 está todo en el aire y en los aeropuertos, cerca de 16 horas totales de vuelo utilizando Unidas y Lufthansa Airlines y otras 3 horas de hacer paradas en Washington DC y Frankfurt Alemania. En el avión vi Argo, por primera vez, y le doy un aprobado, yo aslo jugó algunos juegos de mesa vencer a la computadora en el ajedrez y en el Poker! Fue interesante ver la seguridad de los viajeros que vuelan a Israel. Además de la seguridad normal, todos los pasajeros que van a Tel Aviv deben pasar un control adicional. No me importaba, que me hizo sentir más seguro.

Day 2 - Israel 2013: Natanya, Israel & Mediterranean Sea / The Great Sea

Day 2
Near noontime, we arrived at the Tel Aviv airport where we met a few other people in our tour group. After waiting for a few other planes to land we hopped on the bus and traveled about an hour away to the King Solomon Hotel in the city of Netanya on the Mediterranean Coast. We met the rest of the group at the Hotel, ate, and for those who wanted they were free to explore the city... if they didn't mind the cold weather. The weather was much colder than I thought it would be... 50F in the evening, too cold for me!

Cerca del mediodía, llegamos al aeropuerto de Tel Aviv donde nos encontramos con algunas otras personas en nuestro grupo de viaje. Después de esperar para otros aviones nos montamos en el autobús y viajamos cerca de una hora al Hotel Rey Salomón en la ciudad de Netanya, en la costa mediterránea. Nos reunimos con el resto del grupo en el hotel, comimos, y para los que querían puede explorar la ciudad ... si no les importaba el frío. El clima era mucho más frío de lo que pensaba que sería ... 50F en la noche, demasiado frío para mí!

Day 3 - Israel 2013: Caesarea & Nazareth

Day 3
First on the agenda for today was visiting the ruins of the Roman city of Caesarea built by Herod the Great. During the days of Jesus, this was the home of many gentiles and a place where many of them heard the Gospel and converted. Several Romans Governors lived here including Felix, Festus, and Pontius Pilate. Also, it was here that Paul the apostle was imprisoned (Acts 25:1-27.) Ruins of an ancient sports complex and theater still exist today. Our next stop was Mt. Carmel the place where Elijah challenged the prophets of the god Baal (1 Kings 18:21.) From there we traveled to Megiddo, the site of several Old Testament battles and also the predicted location of the Battle of Armageddon (Judges 1:27.) Our final stop for the day was in Nazareth, the birthplace of Christ Jesus. There were no ruins to see in Nazareth because it has been inhabited constantly throughout the years, so what we did do in Nazareth is visit a place called Nazareth Village to see a reenactment of life in the times of Jesus. [Interesting fact: Nazareth is totally inhabited by Arab Israeli. Segregation is extremely evident in Israel. Many other cities, towns, and neighborhoods are also inhabited by only one ethnicity.] In the evening we arrived at the second hotel called Ma’agan which sits on the Sea of Galilee. The food thus far was fantastic. The popular dish in Israel is Falafel or deep fried chick peas…very delicious.

En primer lugar en la agenda para hoy era visitar las ruinas de la ciudad romana de Cesarea construido por Herodes el Grande. Durante los días de Jesús, fue el hogar de muchos gentiles, y un lugar donde muchos de ellos escucharon el Evangelio y convirtieron. Varios gobernadores romanos vivieron aquí, incluyendo Félix, Festo, y Poncio Pilato. También fue aquí donde el apóstol Pablo fue encarcelado (Hechos 25:1-27). Day 4 - Israel 2013: Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes, Bethsaida

Day 4
Today we began our day by traveling to the ancient city of Capernaum. Several of Jesus’ miracles occurred in this town including the healing of the paralyzed man who was lowered through the roof of a village home. (Mark 2:1-12) Capernaum is also believed to be the home of the Apostle Peter. Many ruins of ancient homes and an old synagogue still remain today. The second site was at the Mt. of Beatitudes. It was here that Jesus preached the sermon of Beatitudes. (Matt 5:3-12) Today a church built by the Italian government sits on top of the hill. We then visited the source of the Jordan River. We saw streams of fresh water gathering together feeding the Jordan River. It was such an awesome feeling just to see the river where the Lord Jesus was Baptized. We walked a trail along the Jordan River on our way to a site in the city of Dan where detestable pagan rituals where performed by Israelites in the Old Testament, rituals such as worshiping the second golden calf (1 Kings 12:25-33.) [Interesting facts: #1) The Jordan River sits on a fault separating the Asian and African Continents. #2) Dan is the only tribe not mentioned in the gathering of the tribes in the Book of Revelation.] After eating at a Lebanese restaurant, we then visited Ceasarea Philipi. It was here that Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ. Finally we visited Bethsaida the place where Jesus fed 5000 people with 2 loaves of bread and 5 fishes (Luke 9:10-17.) At every location we read relevant scriptures and our tour guide Mickey briefly gave encouraging messages in relation to the scriptures. We finished our day pleasing the ladies by doing shopping in the town of Tabariyeh which is the location of the ancient city of Tiberias.

Hoy comenzamos nuestro día viajando a la ciudad antigua de Cafarnaúm. Varios milagros de Jesús ocurrió en esta ciudad, incluyendo la curación del paralítico que fue bajado por el techo de una casa de pueblo.
